Weekly Round-Up: The Thanksgiving Edition

facebook_b77c420a87

Time for this week’s round-up of the best of the blog posts which I’ve read over the past week. These are the posts that have moved me, taught me something, inspired me, and which I’ve wanted to share with you. Don’t forget if you have written a post which you would like readers to see, just leave a comment below.

I hope all who celebrated Thanksgiving this week had the loveliest of days. Some Thanksgiving themed posts from Fab Nancy, Yvonne, Tric, Lisa, Karin, Dee, Susan,  and Ilene.

Check out my interview with Rod Ritchie, male breast cancer advocate extraordinaire.  Here’s an extract which highlights the particular challenge Rod faces in raising awareness of male breast cancer:

After finishing treatment for breast cancer four years ago, and deciding to spread the word that men get breast cancer too, I found my message falling on deaf ears in the mainstream media. Even the so-called “pink charities” were initially deaf to this inconvenient fact, and I discovered their websites were hardly acknowledging men, were very pink, and the institutional mindset was almost entirely women-centered. Alongside this, male breast cancer was an orphan disease, with a low profile and one that, upon diagnosis, left most men in a state of shock and more or less embarrassed to have a “woman’s disease”.

Audrey is seeking freedom.

I’m so happy and so honored by Sue‘s kind words about me this week on her blog – it means the world to me to know that I can connect with others outside my little corner of Ireland.

A gorgeous post from Connie about slowing down and being present through the use of touch.

Lots of updates from Becky this week.

I’m really enjoying Cathy‘s superb series of posts on improving outcomes, energy, stamina and strength – check out Part IV this week on her blog.

Barbara‘s latest post focuses on dealing with the mental aspects that result from a cancer diagnosis,, which is as important as treating the disease.

And finally, this week’s writing prompt.  You may like to write about it on your own blog, or simply leave a comment below.
