Meditation 101
I am back to the subject of meditation again this morning and I write this post in response to some of the comments on an earlier post, Being Before Doing. Some of you commented on how hard you find it to switch from the doing mode of being, into a state of simply being, and I recognise myself in these comments too. Although many of us can see the wisdom of a regular meditation practise, most of us adopt a start, stop approach to it, or give up altogether. It may help you to read the advice I came across recently on another blog, “the purpose of (which) is to provide 20 practical recommendations to help beginners get past the initial hurdles and integrate meditation as an ongoing practice in their lives”.

This is a very helpful link. I would love to be more consitent and disciplined when it comes to a medition practise, but I end up doing the whole start – stop thing you mention. Your post today has inspired me to start again. thank you

Dear Marie,
I think meditation could help a lot of people but for me it just doesn’t cut it. I have noticed that, since I have begun riding “my bike”, that is my time in the day that I can leave everything behind me and just clear my mind. This might sound silly but it is the truth. But once again you managed to open my eyes to a very interesting subject and I thank you for that. Love, Annemieke

This is a perfect form of meditation for you Annemiekeh, if it helps you stay present in the moment 🙂

I have to agree with annemiekeh – for me it is not riding a bike, but walking in nature where I find myself most able to achieve a meditative state of being.
