Cancer Tales, a play by acclaimed British author, Nell Dunn, which was inspired by the moving tales of five women whose lives were touched by cancer, will receive its Irish premiere at the LIT Millennium Theatre in Limerick on Wednesday, 18th March.
The successful UK production is being presented by Milford Care Centre in cooperation with the University of Limerick and the Irish Hospice Foundation. Interest has been such – and with the opening night now booked out – that a second performance has been arranged for Friday, 20th March.
The British Medical Journal has described the play as follows: “Five personal histories of pain, hopelessness, hope, resignation and love … brilliantly written, transporting the audience.” It has been described as essential viewing for every health professional delivering care to patients with cancer or any life-limiting illness.
There is also a workbook to accompany the plays called Cancer Tales: Communicating in Cancer Care which integrates the script with research on topics like breaking bad news, pain relief and coping mechanisms.
