Weekly Round-Up

Hello, lovely readers! I have a fantastic selection of reads waiting for you, so let’s get started!
It’s October, and that means Breast Cancer Awareness Month (BCAM) is now officially underway. Drawing on his experience as a 10-year breast cancer survivor, Rod Ritchie writes in Advanced Breast Cancer about the unique challenges faced by men with the disease. He shares effective advocacy strategies, including promoting inclusive language and collaborating with cancer organizations to improve resources for men.
With many mixed emotions, Barbara reflects on what has evolved since her first BCAM.
Abigail expresses her exhaustion with the superficiality of “Pinktober” and its failure to address the diverse realities of breast cancer, especially for those living with metastatic disease.
Beth writes of the bittersweet end of an annual adoption event while celebrating an exciting new beginning: the launch of Beth Gainer Fine Arts LLC.
Connie shares a deeply personal perspective of the devastation wrought by Hurricane Helene.
Finally this week, Philippa marks the 15th anniversary of her cancer diagnosis, acknowledging the ongoing physical and psychological impact of the disease. I also quietly marked my own cancervesary last week—20 years. It’s amazing how that time can feel both incredibly distant and surprisingly recent.
Until next week,
Yours with much love always

Thank you, Marie for this edition of the Round-Up. Congratulations on being 20 years out from your diagnosis. I agree with what you said, “It’s amazing how that time can feel both incredibly distant and surprisingly recent.”
Best to you and to others during this month of remembrance.

I will also be marking my 20th year cancerversary of my 1st breast cancer diagnosis at the end of this year. Yes, it as a distant and recent event. My local recurrence a year and a half later additionally added extra fears, physical changes and emotional scars. Thank you so much for this beautiful Round- Up that keeps our global village connected.
