Weekly Round-Up

Time for this week’s round-up of the best of the blog posts which I’ve read over the past week. These are the posts that have moved me, taught me something, inspired me, and which I’ve wanted to share with you. Don’t forget if you have written a post which you would like readers to see, just leave a comment below.
Rod writes about a perennial topic in the breast cancer community – breast cancer metaphors.
Long a topic for breast cancer patients on social media, no disease metaphors stir patients as much as being told they are battling the disease.
A topic also taken up by Kristie this week.
Carolyn looks back on her year of living Covidly.
Renee opens up about depression.
Ilene celebrates vaccination day.
A guest post on Ticking Off Breast Cancer from The Osbourne Trust – a UK based charity hat focuses on support on the children of a parent with cancer.
Running through joy and sorrow, Maureen completes a challenge.
Barbara extols the benefits of walking.
Connie writes openly about her experience of online dating.
Lovely reflection from Julia on cancerversaries, friendships and female solidarity.
Super post from Sue on how health professionals can be a patient ally.
Great tips from Jennifer on creating a recovery basket.
What’s next for cancer treatment in a post-covid world? Chris tackles the question in his latest post.
Finally this week, I’d like to leave you with a quote from Abigail on looking for silver linings.
…looking for the silver lining, looking outside the box of the trauma or difficulty, is looking for the hope that shines behind it. The silver lining beckons us, it inspires us, it communicates that there is something beyond the current moment, the sable cloud.
Until next week,
May you continue to find a silver lining no matter your circumstances
Yours with much love always

Thank you once more for taking the time out of the busy life you lead to make our blog posts a priority. Thank you once more for your friendship and the love you put into our lives – some close some far away – but always with the most gentle hand. Thank you again for the virtual hugs you give us as you hit publish and send this out into the ether for us to know our words are heard and aren’t echoes in the vastness of the web waiting for spiders to crawl and find some keywords and by happenstance someone who needs to relate trip over. This is meaningful. This is true to your spirit and experiences. And this is something I only wish there were better words for than “gratitude” and “thanks.” Because without your PR many of our blogs would sit and wait for the people who need to feel less alone in their diseases to somehow find a friend. And I’m glad we found each other. Much love.
