My honors thesis was on Kierkegaard and William Blake and their constructs of religion. That was so long ago I wonder how I was ever so elusively pretentious, although it did garner me a degree with honors. I suppose the right professor can mean the world. I wrote to him from a cafe outside the louvre about 16 years ago – letting him know I’d been successful and that the courses I had taken with him expanded my business capabilities- your quote reminded me of all that in an instant – a pretty good way to start a week. Life’s pretty quiet these days. With the lockdown doubly important with the new strains of Covid/sars, I wonder if my door will ever be fully open again. I still hope for a trip to the UK and one last trip to France. How times been robbed from so many of us who never had any to spare. Thank you for recognizing my poem. It’s funny but I’d gotten my post done for the week prior to 3 am my time…I don’t know if you realize, your roundup always pushes me to get my blog done. Thank you, my beautiful friend Marie.
". . .and the world cannot be discovered by a journey of miles, no matter how long, but only by a spiritual journey, a journey of one inch, very arduous and humbling and JOYFUL, by which we arrive at the ground at our own feet, and learn to be at home."
Wendell Berry
