I so love this poem. It brings me to tears. This is one of the most difficult months I’ve had in all the time since my diagnosis – targeted therapies, radiation, the living beyond breast cancer campaign for mbc awareness – it’s all a bit too much and all serves as a reminder of what’s inevitable. I pray I live long but some days the knowing and life span of a snowflake seems reasonable, too.
Oh Ilene, my heart aches for you and what you are going through right now. Thank you for being so open and honest about the reality of living with MBC. You are one of the most incredible people I’ve encountered on this journey with cancer. I wish I had it within my power to take your pain away. I’m holding you in my thoughts and my heart today xxxx
". . .and the world cannot be discovered by a journey of miles, no matter how long, but only by a spiritual journey, a journey of one inch, very arduous and humbling and JOYFUL, by which we arrive at the ground at our own feet, and learn to be at home."
Wendell Berry
