Weekly Round-Up
Time for this week’s round-up of the best of the blog posts which I’ve read over the past week. These are the posts that have moved me, taught me something, inspired me, and which I’ve wanted to share with you. Don’t forget if you have written a post which you would like readers to see, just leave a comment below.
One of the hardest things about being in a community like ours is the losses we sustain – a theme taken up by Becky in her latest post.
Grateful to Connie for her honesty in writing of the painful end of her marriage.
Both Terri and Dr Attai update us on Allergan’s recall of breast implants.
Kimberly celebrates ten years with no evidence of disease.
Lovely post from Nancy Siebel on how a garden can teach us acceptance, appreciation and joy.
Good to have Katie back in the blogosphere again with her account of experiencing joy at a recent cancer retreat.
Lara revisits the definition of “survivor” in her latest post.
How do you cope with the death of your soulmate? Karin shares the story of one woman who learned how.
While Sarah is on week three of radiotherapy and starting to feel the side-effects of treatment, Janet is also coming to the realization that chemo has left some nasty side-effects on her.
Abigail has been nominated for a mystery blogging award which requires her to answer some questions. I remember this from a few years ago and it’s a great way to get to know each other. Check out her post and her other nominees – including me 😉 I have it on my to-do list for next week.
Ilene traces her family history and discovers links to her present-day diagnosis of cancer.
Barbara explores the decision around breast reconstruction after cancer.
In Nancy Stordahl‘s latest post she writes about the grief she still experiences three years after her father’s death.
A moving post from Audrey on the limitations of illness ending with some wise words on living within those limits.
Finally this week, I leave you with a writing prompt. Feel free to write about it on your blog, or simply leave a comment below.
Until next week,
Yours with much love always,
Marie xxx

Another wonderful roundup, Marie. 👍
I probably won’t answer your writing prompt this coming week, as it will coincide with the next story from my memoirs – which is what happened last time!
In case anyone would like to read it, my latest memoir post is below.
Following my successful parachute jump, I start to recognise small triumphs where I might previously have seen failure:

Thanks so much, Marie for including my post about this new path of marital separation. We face many losses in life– some expected some we’re blindsided by. No matter what, we benefit from the support we receive when we share our pain with others. I appreciate the support I’ve received from members of our community.
Best to you all for the week ahead,
Connie

I found ‘your tree.’ Will send you a message on Twitter and a pic.
Thinking of you, too and wishing the best for your life, and for those in the JBBC community.

Marie you bring together a force to reckon with – our words slice through the heart of the matter, much better than surgery could ever solve. Our disease may bring us down, but our posts bring us up into the world so that we can inform others of what cancer truly does to a life – and we support one another by doing so. How funny that 25 years ago no one ever would have imagined this platform as a way to do what only local groups once could. And the unlikely global scope and reach that encompasses our voices is one I’m I’m proud to continue to be part of.
Thank you!
❤️❤️❤️

Ilene, you always leave the most wonderful comments and say the most inspiring things. Than YOU for supporting the efforts I make here to bring us all together in this virtual space. It continually amazes me what we can do in a digital space these days to create a real community even though we haven’t met each other in real life!
