Pay It Forward In Memory Of Hugh Sutherland
Today is the birthday of Hugh Sutherland, beloved husband of our dear friend Karen. In anticipation of this day Karen decided to launch “the first annual Pay it Forward Tribute to Hugh Sutherland with a letter encouraging family and dear friends to honor his memory with acts of kindness.” When we heard about this, some of us decided we wanted to take part too as an act of loving solidarity with Karen who means so much to us.
I’ve been thinking how best to do this and as I often do, I want to hand it over to you. Is there something I can do for you today? Can I answer a question for you? Put you in touch with someone who may be able to help you with something? If you have a blog, or a Twitter or Facebook account, would you like to ask for more likes and follows? A crowd-funding campaign you need support for? Now is your chance to make that ask, confident that not just I, but many of us are on hand to pay it forward for you today.
All you have to do is ask.

Wonderful idea. I just tried to pass it forward to a friend, so we’ll see what happens. But either way, I’ll keep an eye on this space today. And Marie, while we are at it, is there anything you need as well? I’ll start by retweeting this post. 🙂

This is a beautiful idea, and so important to take it into action. And so true to Karen.
I saw this rather late I’m afraid, so missed the day itself. However, with my core word of the year being “integrity” it speaks very much to me and perhaps I had already paid it forward a little yesterday (is that cheating?) as my day had started by posting in recognition of Mesothelioma Awareness Day – http://feistybluegeckofightsback.wordpress.com/2014/09/26/mesothelioma/

What a beautiful concept and way of remembering Hugh! Karen means so much to us, and I’m sure this is a difficult day for her in some ways. She is really special.

I thought about Hugh and Karen throughout the day yesterday.I hosted my writers’ group and tried to be as helpful and kind as I could be. In the evening I provided dinner for my daughter and granddaughter and showered love on them.
But my youngest great-grandson, age 4, was run over by a truck last Sunday. When the driver heard the people screaming, he backed up and ran over Deizel again. Deizel was airlifted to The Children’s Hospital in Denver and admitted to ICU, where he remains. He had thoracic and intestinal injuries, but his head and spine were spared. He has seven pelvic fractures that may require surgery, but, amazingly, he is alive and improving. So this week, we have received more kindness than we have dispensed.
