Weekly Round-Up Easter Style

Time for this week’s round-up of the best of the blogs which I’ve read over the past week. These are the posts that have moved me, taught me something, inspired me, and which I’ve wanted to share with you. Blending an Easter theme of resurrection with knowing how to express your true self is the topic on offer at Pasha Hogan’s blog this week. I love how Pasha shares honestly about her own struggles with reaching her true potential.

If you find you are struggling with creating your own potential then perhaps you need to take a leaf out of Terri’s book. Terri shares the places her practice of writing her Morning Pages has taken her – and it’s been quite a journey.

And you might also like to dip into Julia Barnickle’s blog as she writes about her take on goal setting taking life as it comes.

I always enjoy getting a closer look into the lives of my blogger friends and I really loved reading Catherine’s account this week of sitting at the kitchen table with mother in law and husband in Hungary. Catherine’s reflections on the circle of life struck a deep chord with me.

Suzzann Cummings is a guest blogger at Nancy’s Point this week sharing what it’s like for her living with and managing lymphedema.

Rachel Pappas has some good advice on making relationships work through sickness on her excellent 1uponcancer blog.

Hayley is sharing a deeply personal story about bowel cancer in Chris’s Cancer Community as Chris raises awareness of a new UK campaign #never2young.

In a thought-provoking post, the Cancer Curmudgeon is wondering if “the pendulum has swung too far the other way from the days when breast cancer was not mentioned publicly to now in which it has become almost a rite a passage and we can not only speak openly about it, it is damn near an unavoidable topic at certain times of the year. That would imply that breast cancer is a normal thing, like menopause, when in truth it is not.”

Do take some time this weekend to read “Hacked Off” –  The Pink Underbelly’s thoughts on David Jay’s Scar Project – it really is a superb must read!

Yvonne is bestowing versatile blog awards in what is, it has to be said a very versatile blog this week – ranging from unruly hair to sugar sandwiches to ironing boards!

Elaine continues her commitment to writing haikus on My Unexpected Adventure.

AnneMarie is honoring the memory of Lauren Terrazzano whose life was taken far too soon by lung cancer and how this fact drives AnneMarie’s passionate advocacy.

Similarly Susan is driven by the same passion for a cure – highlighted even more so this week as she mourns the death of  Donna Peach, a blogger we lost to metastatic cancer a few days ago.

If you feel passionately as AnneMarie, Susan and many others do about metastatic cancer, then you won’t want to miss “From Outrage To Action” – the story of  Dian (CJ) Corneliussen-James and METAvivor on Dr Kathleen Hoffman’s blog. Born of the outrage of four women, METAvivor Research and Support, Inc. is a non-profit with a purpose – to increase research funding for metastatic cancer.

Lori has also written about the loss of Donna Peach, whom she brings vividly to life when describing meeting her for the first time at the #bcsm-LA TweetUp.

Donna slipped right into our group, listening, sharing, and expressing gratitude for the simple opportunity to meet each other. And she shared stories…of dancing, of writing, of her involvement in the cancer community long before she was ever a patient. I think it’s fair to say she was a true renaissance woman, trying on all kinds of experiences on her life’s path of discovery.

Finally this week Victoria has been writing about her garden and her belief that ” gardens are magical places where wonderful things happen.”

 Every morning I get up and walk my garden to see what new delightful thing is coming up or budding or blooming.  Nothing is more soothing to me than digging in the dirt or just watching the sun as it illuminates the different areas of the garden during the day.  It is miraculous.  I do not know what the next year will bring but I plan to spend as much of it as I can watching living things grow and lending a light hand to help them along.

These words seem a fitting way to end this weekend’s Easter round-up as we celebrate a season of resurrection and growth.
