Celebrating the Ordinary: Summing Up
Here is just a small sample of some of the quotes from your blogs that touched me during this past week.
I have been struck by the enormity and complexity of celebrating the ordinary. Already, I have had insights both visual and descriptive, into the lives of friends on the blogosphere. The images are striking and the words underneath them tell so much ~ Feisty Blue Gecko
A fragrant potpourri of treasured memories ~ Mourning Has Broken
Today, my ordinary celebration is to recognize that my life has taken on a new meaning.. ~ Chemobrain
what today reminded us about, is that you can find all sorts of lovely (and ordinary) places just by deciding to do it. And I’ll take ‘ordinary’ any day of the week ~ Being Sarah
It is truly amazing how we zigged and zagged around the globe to blog in such a beautifully synchronistic way. The “sync” factor is very strong! I think we may need to rename Marie’s Challenge “The ‘S’ Factor” ~ The Big C and Me
Twilight gently nudges in the darkness ~ Nancy’s Point
Not only has it been amazing to see how much we are all on the same page…that we can draw a line from one post to the next (I had a tree pic today!), but that it unites us in so many ways, transcending the reasons we came into the bonds that keep us here ~ Regrounding
During the summer I had a medical scare, and this celebrating of the ordinary has snapped me out of the depression. I have many wonderful blessings in my life, and your challenge has reminded me of that ~ Calling The Shots
Ralph Waldo Emerson said, “Earth laughs in flowers,” and there’s a lot of laughter in my backyard~ The Pink Underbelly
We are forever linked not just by breast cancer, but by an unspoken bond developed by shared experiences and getting to know one another through our blogs. No BS, no waisted platitudes like so, “Where did you grow up?” or “How long have you lived here?” None of that matters because we have far deeper and more meaningful things to share and ways to support one another ~ Breast Cancer Sisterhood
Much love to you all
This was a touching and beautiful project, quite worthy of you and all the goodness you offer. Welcome back–with a bang!
Thank you for your lovely kind words Candida. It’s good to be back among such a supportive and wonderful community of bloggers
Marie, I’m so grateful for this challenge; thank you so much for posing it to us. It’s been great fun reading everyone’s posts, and I have very much enjoyed coming up with something to write about every day. The overwhelming response is proof of your immense presence in all of our lives. xo
Aw thank you Nancy, my sweet friend x
I’m with Nancy! It has been great fun to catch little glimpses into the “ordinary” real life days of those with whom I have connected here…
This was a goodie! Hell.. there are awareness days, weeks, months for EVERYTHING… I pick the last week in August as “Annual Global Celebrate the Ordinary” Week.
Oh I love that idea Anne Marie 🙂
What a great group of women! I’m honored to be in your company regardless of whether we celebrate the ordinary, cheer for our victories, or support one another through the hard times. We are friends, indeed. Thank you, Marie!
Thank YOU Brenda for taking part x
What a wonderful summation of this extraordinary exercise! And you are the glue that held it all together. Thanks for your loving spirit, and welcome back! xox
Thank YOU Jan for embracing this challenge so wholeheartedly x
This was a wonderful experience, indeed. We should do this in October for a week to forget all the hoopla that goes on during the month. Thank you, Marie, for inspiring and leading us to noticing the blessings in our lives.
I have been thinking we should repeat this exercise Beth 😉
Pingback: Day 7 Saturday – celebrating the ordinary, every day | Feisty Blue Gecko – a tail of the unexpected
What an incredible challenge this has become! It has evolved on so many levels, and given me insights into the lives of so many blogaristas, both emotional and physical worlds. My final day is terribly late (thanks to connectivity problems here) but it will not be my final word on the challenge! A couple of different posts are in the pipeline. In the meantime here is my Day 7 one (arriving on day 9 😉 ) http://feistybluegeckofightsback.wordpress.com/2012/09/03/day-7-saturday-celebrating-the-ordinary-every-day/
Thank you SO MUCH, Marie for such a wonderfully inspiring exercise.
Thank YOU Philippa for celebrating this week in your own inimitable style – it’s been a joy to read your words and see your images
A wonderful challenge! It’s just incredible to see how much positivity and reflection came from a simple request to capture the ordinary. Clearly we’re surrounded by so much that is worth celebration.
