The Memory Jar

Fill a jar with memories throughout the year, then open them on New Year’s Eve
I stumbled upon this charming suggestion on Pinterest recently and wanted to share it with you. I am going to find a suitable jar, decorate it prettily and round up the receipts, ticket stubs and small items I have lying around the house since the start of this year, which carry a significant or happy memory for me. This New Years Eve I will look forward to spending some time recalling the good memories of this year, which even though it has been filled with pain and sorrow, has also held moments of friendship, love and happiness.
It’s not too late to start your own memory jar. Will you join me???
It’s a lovely idea. I do something quite similar with my journal – the pages are stuffed with letters, clippings and memories to cherish. Though that jar is very charming looking, and sharing memories in a public place allows everyone to enjoy the good moments.
A good idea. Thanks!

Marie,
I’ve kept these special mementos since I was 21. In 2007, when James and I moved to our Little House in the country, all of those special keepsakes went into storage. Had James not died, we would have built our “big” house by now on the same property, and I would have all of my things. The other day, I went into one of my storage units…. You know what? This is really too long to share here, so perhaps I’ll blog about it. Thank you! You’ve given me a topic I really need to write about even if it’s just for me, because my experience at the storage unit was bitter sweet.
Thanks for the writing prompt & your wonderful blog.
XOXOXO,
Brenda

Hey good idea. Kind of like a gratitude journal, only a different way to express yourself, and something decorative you can leave out to to see as a reminder …
