Win a Book for World Book Day
Like many of you I am sure, I don’t need a special day set aside to celebrate my love of reading. Nevertheless, I couldn’t let World Book Day pass by, without acknowledging it somehow. So I am giving away a copy of one of the books which helped me through some difficult times in my own life – Broken Open: How Difficult Times Can Help Us Grow by Elizabeth Lesser. You can read more about this book by clicking here. To win the book, just leave a comment below about what reading means to you, and/or why you would like to receive a copy of this book. The winner will be picked at random from the best comments.
Looking forward to hearing from you!
What a lovely idea…I would love to receive this book. Books have always been my companion throughout life – and they have helped me through difficult times, to feel less alone.

My love of reading goes way back to my childhood when my mother would sit in bed with me every night and read to me, instilling a life long love for reading in my soul.

My three year cancerversary is soon and I want to thank the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance, all of the wonderful survivor/warriors I have met, and mostly thank you to myself for changing EVERYTHING in my life to become a healthier warrior advocate.

Actually Lily, I’m feeling a bit guilty as I didn’t make it clear there was a time limit on the competition here, although I did on Twitter. I will give away another book later in the month I think to make up for this oversight 🙂

Wow! How could you possibly give a book away? I just love books. Now that my kids are older I can get a little deeper in my reading than “Little House on the Prairie”. I would love to read a book like that as I am dealing with lingering pain after my cancer. But, if I don’t win the book, I’ll just keep reading blogs!

Sorry you didn’t win this time, but I enjoyed doing this so much…I will certainly do it again 🙂 So sorry to hear you are dealing with lingering pain after your cancer treatment. Apart from the physical pain, it can be quite scary sometimes too can’t it? Please do come and visit us here at the blog and if you are on Facebook, check out the fan page too. When my husband was diagnosed 10 years ago, reading informational books got us through the first few days, and then moving on (in conjunction with the informaltional) to more inspirational book got us through surgery, recovery, etc.
Last year when I was diagnosed, I went through the same process, and continue to read about the disease. Information is good, inspiration is good, and then just plain getting lost in a novel or reading about someone who has gone through or is going through the same issues keep me sane.
I would love to win this book to add to my repoitoire, for reference and inspiration.
