New social network for women touched by HER2+ breast cancer

Everything is held together with stories. That is all that is holding us together, stories and compassion. Barry Lopez
As regular readers know, I don’t need any convincing when it comes to the benefits of social networks. I believe they provide excellent platforms for building community, support, information and even genuine friendship. So, I was very pleased to be contacted by Rethink Breast Cancer this week to let me know about their new social network, TellHER2, the first online community dedicated to connecting Canadian women affected by HER2+ breast cancer.
Like all the best social networks, it uses the power of personal stories, honestly told and bravely shared, to inspire, inform, empower and build a very unique community, sewn together by HER2+ women and their network of family, friends and health care providers. HER2+ breast cancer is an aggressive form of the disease, so the knowledge that women are not alone in their fight can be a great source of strength and courage.
I was struck by some beautiful words on the website “Your words have power… You can touch the lives of others in a profound way simply by sharing what’s in your heart and mind”, which echos something I wrote during the summer about why we tell our stories, for in listening to the stories of how others have walked their path, our own journey of discovery and healing can be enriched.

More proof that there is power in our words and stories, and that sharing them with others is helpful in many ways. Sharing my story has helped me and hopefully it has helped other women. My cancer was Her2+, so I look forward to going to this site and see what is happening there.
Thanks for sharing!
