‘Twas the night before Christmas…

So begins the first line of the famous poem by Clement Clarke Moore which has delighted generations of children and adults since it was first published in December 1823.
As I reflect on the timeless words penned by Clement Clarke Moore, I am transported back to the magical nights of my own childhood, eagerly awaiting the arrival of Santa Claus. The excitement, the anticipation, the joy—it all comes rushing back.
In the spirit of tradition, I find myself lighting a candle just as my mother did, placing it in this virtual front window to extend a symbol of welcome. A gesture that echoes the hospitality offered to Mary and Joseph on that sacred first Christmas Eve. Picture this candle as more than just a physical flame; envision it as a beacon of support and solace, a guiding light in the darkest of times.
Our community is a sanctuary, a place where compassion abounds. In the glow of this symbolic candle, know that you are not alone. Whether you seek warmth, encouragement, or simply a virtual hug, our shared light is here for you.
May this candle serve as a reminder that our connections are a source of strength. In the company of friends, old and new, may the light we share illuminate the path ahead.
I will light candles this Christmas.
Candles of joy, despite all the sadness.
Candles of hope where despair keeps watch.
Candles of courage where fear is ever present.
Candles of peace for tempest-tossed days.
Candles of grace to ease heavy burdens.
Candles of love to inspire all of my living.
Candles that will burn all the year long.
