Weekly Round-Up
Time for this week’s round-up of the best of the blog posts which I’ve read over the past week. These are the posts that have moved me, taught me something, inspired me, and which I’ve wanted to share with you. Don’t forget if you have written a post which you would like readers to see, just leave a comment below.
“Once you receive the “cancer call,” your life is never the same. Every plan and dream become frozen because you’re no longer the person you once were. That one call changes the course of your life.” So begins Megsie‘s latest post on hearing the news no one ever wants to hear.
Ever wondered why dense breasts matter? In her latest podcast, Karin talks with breast density advocate Siobhán Freeney about the issue of breast density and cancer.
In her latest post, Terri charts her breast cancer journey towards reconstruction and offers practical advice for others who are starting out on this path.
I loved reading Sarah‘s reflections on the power of storytelling in her own journey with breast cancer. The power of stories to heal our wounded selves, and to connect us to each other is a topic that I never tire of hearing about.
Thoughts from Naomi on traveling, chronic illness and returning to old memories.
Claudia writes this week about the things she talks to herself about when out walking.
Eloquently and cogently argued post from Sandra on the impact on patients’ lives (or lack of impact) that research makes.
I continue to be grateful to Connie for writing so honestly about the break up of her marriage and the complex emotions this brings.
A new post from Barbara on choosing your cancer medical team members.
Beth Thompson shares field notes from her recently empty nest.
A warm welcome back to the blogosphere this week to Beth Gainer with a post on not being done with cancer.
Julia shares a story of a magical connection on a train to Budapest and a lesson on enjoying the journey and allowing life to unfold.
Nancy‘s latest post on breasts and body image resonated with me strongly this week.
The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued a safety announcement about a “rare but severe” lung inflammation that can result from the use of any of 3 breast cancer medications – palbocilcilb (Ibrance), ribociclib (Kisqali), and abemaciclib (Verzenio). Dr Attai puts the announcement into context for patients on her blog.
Finally this week, I leave you with a line from Abigail’s latest post on guilt vs shame – words we could all dedicate ourselves to in the week ahead.
Today, I rededicate myself to living in the present, to experience life with my family in the present and to light the way for others to do the same.
Until next week,
Yours with much love always,
Marie xxx

I loved your message Julia of appreciating the journey rather than the destination – it’s something I need to do more of in my own life.
