Health Activist Writer’s Month Challenge Day 14 #HAWMC
Day fourteen of the WEGO Health Activist Writer’s Month which I have signed up for – a month dedicated to the art of writing about health. Today’s writing prompt:
My Dream Day. Describe your ideal day.
My dream day happened two years ago and it is one that lives on in my imagination to be revisited when days are dark and happiness is in short supply.
It came in the middle of a week of wonderful days of sunshine, blue skies, days spent on the beach, reading and relaxing under the shade of a cabana, with the sound of the ocean waves pounding against the shore. My husband and I had attended a conference in Miami and were spending a week relaxing in Delray Beach, Florida. We had arranged to meet some friends in Palm Beach for the day – Cathy has been a very special friend since I met her in 1998 when she spent a year living in Ireland, and spending time with her always uplifts me. Living on different continents we don’t get to see each other very often, so I treasure the times we do get to spend time together.

On this particular Sunday, we drove the A1A route alongside the ocean, en route to Palm Beach. The sun was high in a blue sky (a miraculous sight for Northern Europeans used to gray skies) and I was excited to be seeing Cathy, her partner, Tony and her adorable little girl, Josie.
Nothing spectacular happened that day.. we had lunch, we had a wander around the stores, we had ice-cream, we talked… but oh, it was such a day filled with love, friendship, sunshine and happiness, a day when all the worries and stresses of life seemed so far away, a day of perfect happiness. Just thinking about it now floods me with happiness and light.
