Celebrating International Women’s Day 2012

Today is International Women’s Day , a day officially dedicated to celebrating the vital role women play in their families, communities and countries.

So, I couldn’t let today pass without celebrating  all the women I know who continue to inspire me every day.

Women like YOU!

You  share your stories in guest blog posts, in your insightful and supportive comments on Journeying Beyond Breast Cancer, and you inspire, motivate and move me with your writings on your own blogs.

So, to all of you phenomenal women,  I dedicate Maya Angelou’s poem today

Phenomenal Women

Pretty women wonder where my secret lies.
I’m not cute or built to suit a fashion model’s size
But when I start to tell them,
They think I’m telling lies.
I say,
It’s in the reach of my arms
The span of my hips,
The stride of my step,
The curl of my lips.
I’m a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That’s me.

PS I will be celebrating International Women’s Day today by meeting one of  the most phenomenal women I know – Terri Wingham of A Fresh Chapter, who is taking time on her international volunteering mission to come to Dublin and stay with me for a few days. International Women’s Day blogger style!
