Seasons To Appreciate

Like a promise of brand new day, I thought.
I could go on without you–things will get better.

But then it snowed again, before spring had begin,
And the air got colder, dashing hopes of warmth.
Then I knew I wasn’t ready to let go of the pain

But when spring and summer finally did warm the air,
Just as the love and comfort of friends warm my heart,
I knew I could continue to live and enjoy life.

Were it not for the cold winds of fall
That would come again, and freezing snow to cover it all,
I could live in this dream, and never be sad.

But who ever lives a life without sadness? That’s an
Impossible dream to wish true. I can’t be mad at nature,
For being herself. She’s just reminding me the seasons go on.

So as the cold of winter reminds me of the pain of my loss,
I’m also reminded that without you and your love,
And the joy that you brought, I wouldn’t be who I am today.

And it was you who taught me to appreciate, and never
Take for granted, those warm sunny days of summer,
And the comfort and warmth of a friend’s love.
