Marc Jacobs says “Fight Like a Girl”…to beat breast cancer
Get your exclusive limited edition Marc Jacobs tote
It’s time for the annual Fashion Targets Breast Cancer Campaign and this year luxury department store Brown Thomas has teamed up with celebrated fashion designer Marc Jacobs to create a global exclusive – a limited edition tote, featuring his signature character, Miss Marc, wearing a “Fight Like a Girl” tank and red boxing gloves.
Now in its seventh year, the Fashion Targets Breast Cancer™ campaign has gone from strength to strength in Ireland, having raised just over €570,000, initially through the sale of the bull’s eye target t-shirts and over the last three years, the hugely successful tote bags designed by Diane von Furstenberg, Orla Kiely, Paul Smith and Tory Burch.
The Fashion Targets Breast Cancer Marc by Marc Jacobs tote bag will be sold for €35 in Brown Thomas Dublin, Cork, Limerick and Galway and BT2 Grafton Street, Dundrum and Blanchardstown Shopping Center from Fashion Targets Friday, May 6th 2011. All proceeds raised will go to Action Breast Cancer and Europa Donna Ireland.
I am a big supporter of FTBC and I love the past few years campaign with the bags – I still adore my Tory Burch from last year.

I hate to say it.. but it’s not in the same league as the Tory Burch bag from last year’s campaign..not sure if I will be purchasing it this year.

As a breast cancer patient, I would be proud to carry this bag with me to my appointments at the hospital – it looks very practical and roomy and I for one love the message. Fighting like a Girl!

Marie,
Probably not for me, but to each their own.
Also, I just have to ask, does some of the money raised go to research?? If so, I hope they sell tons of bags!

I have always supported FTBC, but will not be buying this bag as I really find it quite exclusionist (if that’s even a word) – we don’t all like the battle/fighting connotaions and ahem..we aren’t all girls. Other FTBC campaigns were more generally focussed, and they worked better, I felt.
