Top designer gives hospital gown a make-over
Are you like me and detest putting on those embarrassing draughty backless hospital gowns? Well now the traditional hospital gown is to get a Hollywood style makeover by one of the world’s top designers.
Ben de Lisi, famed for creating red-carpet frocks for Hollywood celebrities, says his “aspirational” new design will preserve patients’ modesty. “The old hospital gown was hideous, embarrassing, ill-fitting and probably ill-making too”, he said “”You are away from home, ill, and in hospital and you have to wear this horrific garment.. ” He said his design means patients can have their modesty covered but still allow medics immediate access through clever “entrance points” in the gown. “It’s infinitely dignified, yet practical”.
Launched as part of a Patient Dignity initiative by the UK Health Department , De Lisi’s design is to be tried out in selected hospitals with a view to going into service nationally next year.

Looks great Marie! As an individual who just put on one of the “old gowns” for a test that I had yesterday modesty was not even considered! Looks like a vast improvement!

I think this should make a big difference to the dignity of a patient undergoing tests. I truly hate the feeling of being so exposed in these gowns
