Don’t miss the duckling moments
“One of the most tragic things I know about human nature is that all of us tend to put off living. We are all dreaming of some magical rose garden over the horizon – instead of enjoying the roses blooming outside our windows today.”
~ Dale Carnegie
Today I would like to share a simple, but profound story from Terry Hershey, author of The Power of Pause, about embracing the present moment.
A young couple stood in the ticket line at Knott’s Berry Farm. Nearby, their two young boys were watching a family of ducks. The boys were flat on their bellies, eye to eye with the ducklings, captivated and giggling. The parents walked up, tickets in hand, saying, “Boys, get up. We’ve got to get into the park and start having fun.”
Every day, we are bombarded the implication that life begins elsewhere. And we miss the “duckling moments.” This week, look for your own “duckling moment” and then, perhaps you would like to share it with us here.

What a sweet picture!

Today, I stood listening to a little robin sing for at least two minutes while in my way to the post office to claim the dole money.
On the way back, two swans flew past me along the canal on their way to the sea.
It doesn’t get better than that very often

I was driving to school to pick up my daughter, one of the normally mundane tasks I do mindlessly. On the way I saw a neighbor’s dog, a fluffy, floppy, muppet of a Labradoodle named Winston. He was sitting up right on a patch of snow in the yard looking around with that doggy enthusiasm in the beautiful late afternoon sun which seemed to shine directly on him. It made me LOL! It was a happy, silly duckling moment
