Breast cancer survey of women with high-density breasts
Breast cancer is more frequent but mortality is reduced in women with high- than low-density breasts, a Danish study shows.
Breast density affects the sensitivity of mammography; however, to date the effect of density on outcome following screening has not been determined. A Olsen (University of Copenhagen, Denmark) and colleagues conducted a cohort study to determine the effect of breast density on breast cancer mortality using data from the Danish national breast screening program. The results are published in the British Journal of Cancer.
