Weekly Round-Up

Welcome to this week’s blog round-up. It’s already the middle of Pinktober, and this week’s blog round-up is a mixed bag of reflections, resources, and reminders.
Nancy takes a critical look at the ubiquitous pink ribbon, arguing that its overuse and misuse have diluted its meaning.
Check out my interview with Rod for the Patient Empowerment Foundation, on male breast cancer.
The latest episode of the Our MBC Life podcast explores breast cancer risk reduction for those with a family history of the disease. Host Martha Carlson, who has metastatic breast cancer, shares her family’s experience and discusses risk mitigation with Dr. Sagar Sardesai from the Ohio State University High-Risk Breast Clinic.
Connie recounts a story about self-acceptance and embracing differences, told through the lens of her Southern accent and her experiences traveling. Initially sensitive to others’ reactions to her accent, she has gradually learned to embrace it as part of her identity.
Beth shares her experience of finding a new medical team after her previous doctors retired. It’s a struggle many of us can relate to. She also shares how this positive step inspired her to return to a meaningful art project.
Gabby offers tips on self-soothing while Barbara reminds us us to be active participants in our own treatment.
Finally this week, sending healing thoughts to Chris, who is dealing with some ongoing health challenges a reminder that cancer’s impact can linger long after initial treatment ends.
Until next week,
Yours with much love always
