Weekly Round-Up

girl_with_lassoTime for this week’s round-up of the best of the blogs which I’ve read over the past week. These are the posts that have moved me, taught me something, inspired me, and which I’ve wanted to share with you. Remember, if you have written or read a post recently which you would like me to share with readers, then please leave a comment below.

Jan tackles a topic that often elicits conflicting thoughts and words in the blogosphere – is cancer a gift, as some people like to call it?  I was reminded of Jan’s post when reading Brenda’s blog this week, after her visit to the movies to see The Very Best Marigold Hotel. She recounts some dialogue from the movie, which really resonated with me:

Maggie Smith’s character asks Judy Dench, “What are you going to do now?”

“I’m not sure what I shall do,” Judy’s character says.“Nothing’s worked out quite as I expected.”

Maggie Smith pauses and then smiles and says, “Most things don’t, but sometimes, what happens instead is the good stuff.”

Jackie has re-posted her Ten Commandments of Breast Cancer and if you haven’t already done so, it is certainly worth another read.

When Debbie writes this week that she has “the emotional memory of an elephant, whatever I remember I feel”, I found myself nodding in agreement. I know just how she feels.

A delightful post from Kathi on the “new normal” and friendships off-line.

Nancy’s Point has a book review and giveaway this week.

In He not busy being born, is busy dyingYvonne continues the discussion which took place here on how much words matter in the cancer world and if you missed it last night check out my storify of Yvonne discusding the topic on the #hchlitss Twitter chat with Dr Kathleen Hoffman.

In A New Kind Of ChallengeLori is moving forward on the words matter discussion which took place last week to challenge us to think about what actions matter in eradicating cancer. This theme of taking action is echoed by Anne Marie and I want to leave you with a quote her blog:

Social Media.  An exchange of ideas.  How do we collaborate with others and begin to take those ideas so we may actually formulate a plan and make meaningful attempts to effect change?  Me? I want to change the world.  Yes.  I said “Change The World.”  I dream big.  I dream in color.  I dream believe KNOW that collectively we can make a big difference.

Until next week.

Yours with love

Marie xxx
