Weekly Round-Up
Time for this week’s round-up of the best of the blogs which I’ve read over the past week. These are the posts that have moved me, taught me something, inspired me, and which I’ve wanted to share with you. Remember, if you have written or read a post recently which you would like me to share with readers, then please leave a comment below.
Jan tackles a topic that often elicits conflicting thoughts and words in the blogosphere – is cancer a gift, as some people like to call it? I was reminded of Jan’s post when reading Brenda’s blog this week, after her visit to the movies to see The Very Best Marigold Hotel. She recounts some dialogue from the movie, which really resonated with me:
Maggie Smith’s character asks Judy Dench, “What are you going to do now?”
“I’m not sure what I shall do,” Judy’s character says.“Nothing’s worked out quite as I expected.”
Maggie Smith pauses and then smiles and says, “Most things don’t, but sometimes, what happens instead is the good stuff.”
Jackie has re-posted her Ten Commandments of Breast Cancer and if you haven’t already done so, it is certainly worth another read.
When Debbie writes this week that she has “the emotional memory of an elephant, whatever I remember I feel”, I found myself nodding in agreement. I know just how she feels.
A delightful post from Kathi on the “new normal” and friendships off-line.
Nancy’s Point has a book review and giveaway this week.
In He not busy being born, is busy dying, Yvonne continues the discussion which took place here on how much words matter in the cancer world and if you missed it last night check out my storify of Yvonne discusding the topic on the #hchlitss Twitter chat with Dr Kathleen Hoffman.
In A New Kind Of Challenge, Lori is moving forward on the words matter discussion which took place last week to challenge us to think about what actions matter in eradicating cancer. This theme of taking action is echoed by Anne Marie and I want to leave you with a quote her blog:
Social Media. An exchange of ideas. How do we collaborate with others and begin to take those ideas so we may actually formulate a plan and make meaningful attempts to effect change? Me? I want to change the world. Yes. I said “Change The World.” I dream big. I dream in color. I dream believe KNOW that collectively we can make a big difference.
Until next week.
Yours with love
Marie xxx
Thanks for leading us to some of the good ones this week and every week, Marie. So many of them out there, and it helps to have a third eye sail through them and bring some of what’s worth pausing for to our attention. I’ve said it before: you’ve gotta be a speed reader and writer.

Ok, so now I’m thinking the few times in the past I tried to post comments and they didn’t appear, that it might have been me. I still can’t figure out why sometimes my profile shows and sometimes not. 🙂

Once again, I thank you for sharing my blog with your readers. I can’t tell you how much it means to have you quote my words. We all have common goals. I hope we remain realistic and do not let idealism cloud our collective judgement. More on that on the blog when my brain can properly frame my thoughts so what’s “up here” can make it “to here” in ways that others will understand!
Much love to you….

I did so love that quote Anne Marie and it reminds me also of the Margaret Mead quote that I often use and believe in passionately:
“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has!”

Anne Marie’s quote sums up my feelings perfectly. I live my life by one simple but powerful quote “Be the change that you wish to see in the world.”

My additional thought with are, that by working together and united, anything can be accomplished!

Marie,
Thank you for including me in your roundup. I hope you know how much we all love and appreciate you and your guidance. In many ways, you are our North star.
The Gandhi quote mentioned by AnneMarie and Cara is one of my favorites as well and is only one of two things I see everyday on my refrigerator. The other is Henry David Thoreau’s “Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you have imagined.” When we think about the words of these wise men, together with the life experiences each of us have encountered, how can we not dream in color? Here’s to all of us making a difference in the world:)
XOXOXO,
Brenda

The variety and depth of the topics in our corner of the blogosphere each week always astounds me. The movie that moved Brenda is well worth seeing, and the book Nancy reviews is well worth reading. I’m sure the other posts are more than worth the read, “knowing” these fine writers as I do. Thanks for including my post in this rich assortment of gems. xx
