Hope is beautiful

LGFB_20th_WebThe Look Good…Feel Better programme, which many women have had an opportunity to avail of in the cancer support centres or hospitals where they received treatment, is celebrating their 20th anniverserary this year.

In 1989, what began as a simple idea, grew into a vision of a different way of helping cancer patients cope with an important aspect of their quality of life during cancer treatment — their appearance. Beginning with just two pilot programs in New York and Washington, D.C., LGFB has grown into a highly successful global programme available in 19 countries on six continents, and serving nearly one million women with cancer during the last two decades.

Over the years, this unique and extraordinary programme has remained as relevant and vital to women as it was when the programme began. It has earned high praise among cancer survivors, their friends and families, and the health care community. To celebrate their anniverserary this year, LGFB is running a great competition (open to US residents only), calling on all cancer survivors who have undergone the programme,  to share their stories of hope, courage, and determination for the “Women of Hope is Beautiful” campaign.

Five women will be selected as the “Women of Hope is Beautiful.” They will be featured on the Look Good…Feel Better website, and will win a trip to the DreamBall at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York on September 24, 2009 as well as receive a professional makeover.
