Weekly Round-Up

Time for this week’s round-up of the best blog posts I’ve read over the past week. These posts touched me, taught me something, and inspired me, so I wanted to share them with you. Remember, if you’ve written a post you’d like readers to see, just leave a comment.
While the rest of the world has sweltered in searing heat, we’ve had a pretty dismal summer in Ireland and the UK with lots of rain, that has left many of us feeling blue. Here are some tips from Gabby for those rainy-day blues.
Prompted by events in Maui and on the West Coast of the USA, Barbara writes about emergency preparedness cancer patients might want to consider, especially during treatment.
A post on SBC’s blog outlines factors that can contribute to weight gain during and after breast cancer treatment, and how you can address them.
Terri shares her tips for finding motivation to exercise during breast cancer treatment.
Janet writes about the cancer roller-coaster.
In her latest What I Wish I Knew Back Then post, Carolyn describes how new heart patients must pick their listeners carefully – a truism that applies to all patients.
Here’s another great post from Abigail on how an ableist society restricts individuals. See also this post by Sue on how sickness shaming and how COVID “has brought on next level sickness shaming.”
The final episode of season 6 of Our MBC Life features an interview with Kelly Crump – the first Sports Illustrated swimsuit model living with metastatic breast cancer.
The last story this week is a delightful one by Connie that reminds us of the simple delights of filling our lives with beauty. Reading it reminded me of our much missed friend, Lisa:
Find a bit of beauty in the world today. Share it. If you can’t find it, create it. Some days this may be hard to do. Persevere.”
