Weekly Round-Up: #RandomActsOfKindness Edition
Time for this week’s round-up of the best of the blog posts which I’ve read over the past week. These are the posts that have moved me, taught me something, inspired me, and which I’ve wanted to share with you. Don’t forget if you have written a post which you would like readers to see, just leave a comment below.
Did you know that today is #RandomActsOf Kindness day? I love keeping track of these kinds of days on Twitter. When I teach social media classes I tell my students to mark these days on a calendar and when you find yourself stuck for something to blog or tweet about, then turn to them for inspiration (at the start of each month, I create a list of things to put on your social media calendar for the month ahead – you can find the list on my business blog here.)
And now for this week’s round-up.
For those of us in the UK and Ireland there’s no escaping the spectre of Brexit and for Audrey there are parallels between her health situation and the political situation which is all-consuming.
Terri was on a roll this week, with not one, not two but three new posts on breast reconstruction – each one packed with important facts and advice.
Do you feel drawn to a solo adventure? Connie shares her experience of venturing into the world as a solo traveler and offers some practical tips for how to plan a solo trip of your own.
Nancy features a #MetsMonday guest post from Mary Gooze on choosing joy. Nancy also guest posts for me over at the Global Village of Storytelling on why she chooses to blog about breast cancer.
Last week Nancy posed the question of whether certain things bring back vivid memories of illness – it’s a question that prompted Carolyn to take up on her own blog.
The Cancer Curmudgeon is back in the blogosphere this week with a post on limitations.
Sue writes a moving and thought-provoking review of Julie Yip-Williams’ book The Unwinding of the Miracle.
Gorgeous posts from Johanna and Beth inspired by nature this week.
Ilene shares how art helps her cope with cancer emotions.
How do you choose the right cancer doctor for you? Barbara offers some practical suggestions.
Margaret shares the experience of coming off Tamoxifen in her latest post.
Dr Attai takes us through the American Society of Breast Surgeons’ updated genetic testing guidelines for patients who have been diagnosed with breast cancer.
A super informative post from Cathy on pre-existing heart conditions.
Loving Renee‘s practical tips on quietening the mental chatter.
A warm welcome back to Stacey to the blogosphere again.
If you’re new to Twitter and wondering how to get started, Dee has a useful guide to get you up and running.
How do you mend a broken heart? Karin has some compassionate advice in her latest post.
Finally this week I leave you with a reminder to see us through another week together.
Until next week,
Yours with much love always,
Marie xxx
Dear Marie – thank you for including a mention of my “Recuperation and a Red Chair” blog post (inspired, as you said, by ‘Nancy’s Point’ the previous week).
In fact, I’m sitting in that red chair right now writing this to you! Thanks also for reminding us about random acts of kindness. These little kindnesses can often make a difference that we don’t even realize at the time…
xoxo
