Weekly Round-Up
Time for this week’s round-up of the best of the blog posts which I’ve read over the past week. These are the posts that have moved me, taught me something, inspired me, and which I’ve wanted to share with you. Don’t forget if you have written a post which you would like readers to see, just leave a comment below.
One theme that comes up again and again in the blogosphere is the language used to describe living with cancer – this week Nancy takes on the “beating cancer” phraseology in her latest blog.
A very warm welcome back to the blogosphere to Liz this week.
Congrats to Barbara and Jen nominated for WEGO Health Awards. Do let us know if any of you have also been nominated – I’d love to give you a shout-out in the next round-up.
Looking for a good book to read over the summer? Sarah has some recommendations.
Dee has a dilemma, and it’s one that I share. Like me, she curates a list of cancer bloggers and she is wondering what to do when someone hasn’t posted for a significant length of time. Sometimes we know the blogger has passed away. So the question is, should we keep that blog on our list, or remove it? I struggle with this too and I’d love to know your thoughts on it.
Are you an internal or external processor? Stephanie explores how connection supports healing.
In Mayo Clinic’s Experts By Experience series, Aleka writes about something we’ve looked at previously on JBBC – “The Good Cancer.” It’s worth reading.
Gorgeous pictures and stories of Connie‘s time with her beautiful grandson.
A reminder from Fabiana on taking time out for yourself.
Ilene writes about depression in her latest blog.
In the aftermath of her father’s death, Elizabeth shares a beautiful meditation on grief and letting go. Becky too is dealing with the recent death of her Mom and shares her thoughts in her latest post.
Karin shares a heartfelt story this week about spray-painted flowers – go read it.
Ann reviews Heathline’s Breast Cancer app in her latest blog.
I want to give a shout-out to Rod Ritchie who shared his blog in the comments last week on male breast cancer – great to have the male perspective and thanks for alerting me to your post, Rod.
I laughed out loud reading Britt‘s hilarious account of spin class – I feel you sister.
The MBC Project shares stories in its profile series featuring participants, loved ones, advocates, and team members of the MBCproject.
Great post from Carolyn on how not to motivate patients to change.
Finally this week, I asked if you would be interested in receiving a weekly writing prompt to keep up our blogging MoJo. Several of you said you’d like this, so I’ve decided to share a prompt in the weekly round-up to start your week off. Here’s this week’s prompt.
I look forward to sharing your posts on this topic in next week’s roundup.
Yours with much love always
Marie xxx

Hi Marie,
Regards your prompt submission request, who is the most important person in your life, a little while ago I wrote this piece here
https://karinsieger.com/most-important-friendship-you/
It had been “prompted” by such a “prompt”.
Hope all well with you.
Best wishes.

Thanks so much, Marie, for including my Heart Sisters blog post on such a great list this week! As the Kelly/Barker study concluded, “most efforts to change health behaviours have had limited success” so their observations about the six most common errors in those efforts made perfect sense to me!
Hope you’re having a lovely summer so far…
Kindest regards,
C.

Thanks, Marie. You’re right. At least with being a grandmother, I don’t have the primary responsibility of being Mom. I have time to slow down and take it all in! And I’ll do that.
Best to you,
Connie

Thanks for the mention. Interesting to know that I am not the only one pondering how to handle the “no longer blogging” issue. I also have not been able to delete the accounts of facebook friends who have passed away either.

Greatly appreciate the shout out about the awards voting as I didn’t know that Jen was also nominated. Just voted for her and appreciate the support that anyone will give to me with their vote as well. And, as always, I love to read the other posts that you have called out. Thank you!!!
