I’d love to learn more about your reading habits. What are you currently reading? What is your favorite book of all time?
When I am not getting lost in scandi-noir books, I love anything by Anne Tyler and Alice Munro. I’m currently reading “Vinegar Girl” by Tyler – a reimagining of Shakespeare’s “Taming of the Shrew” for modern times. It’s not one of her best, and I wouldn’t recommend it as an introduction to her books, but I am still enjoying it.
I know I read a lot during cancer treatment, but I was so sick at the time, there was no enjoyment in it. A lot of patients say they can’t concentrate enough to read. Did/do you read much during cancer treatment? Is there one cancer book you would recommend to a newly diagnosed person?

Leave it to you to know it’s Read a Book Day! I just finished “When Breath Becomes Air.” Starting “Hidden Figures” next. Since chemo, it takes me a really long time to finish a book, for whatever reasons. And I do mean a really long time. Hence, my very long to-read list. But that’s okay, I guess. I am not sure what my favorite book of all time would be. I need to think about that one! I do know my favorite genre is memoir, probably for the exact reason stated in your featured image. The book I always recommend for anyone diagnosed with cancer who is also facing chemo is, “The Chemotherapy Survival Guide.” Thanks for the fun post, Marie.

Spot the social media fanatic 😉 I can’t believe I still haven’t read When Breath Becomes Air” yet and I hear so much about it. I hadn’t heard of Hidden Figures – will have to check it out. I’m not the fastest reader these days either, but I do love to go to bed in the winter with a good book beside me. Thanks for sharing your recommendations x

Two books I cherish that have nothing to do with medicine: Getting Open and Deep Work. Getting Open is so loaded with fact and story- it never stops entertaining me. And Deep Work is a life changer – Tom Peters and brilliant reviewer Magic Molly turned me on to it.
