Weekly Round Up: Honoring Our Stories

Time for this week’s round-up of the best of the blog posts which I’ve read over the past week. These are the posts that have moved me, taught me something, inspired me, and which I’ve wanted to share with you. Don’t forget if you have written a post which you would like readers to see, just leave a comment below.

As you know I am crazy in love with the transformative power of storytelling in our lives – so this week’s round-up theme is all about telling our stories.  Not to say that we don’t tell our stories each week on our blogs, but this week, I found myself inspired by Sue on how cancer is not a competition and the need to honor our stories.

You have your story and other people have their stories.  It is okay for these stories to be different.  Let’s embrace each other’s stories without tearing each other down. Let’s recognize that we have more in common than not and stop allowing governments, society and systems to fracture us apart.

Stories of transformation are always at the heart of A Fresh Chapter and this week Heidi shares her own Fresh Chapter story.

Nancy’s summer blogging challenge is all about  sharing our stories of breast cancer, and this week, The Cancer Curmudgeon, Kimberly,  Grace,  Britt, Becky, and Terri take up the challenge.

A wonderfully life-affirming post from Julia on realizing the story of her dream of becoming a writer.

Beth Gainer is grieving the death of her wonderful Aunt Helene and shares the story of their abiding love for each other.

Excellent tips from Margaret on preparing better for you next medical encounter.

I loved Jo Ann‘s latest post on getting out of the doldrums – it cheered me up reading it.

Beth Caldwell‘s simple, but profoundly beautiful post moved me to tears this week.

Thoughts from Stephanie on how cancer affects those “co-survivors” around us.

Lisa shares an update with her latest genetic testing results.

Fiona writes a beautiful reflection on the power of slowing down and observing what’s right there in front of you.

In Style Interrupted Jana reflects on how breast cancer has changed her fashion and style.

Sally shares radiotherapy advice from the trenches.

A powerful post from Jen on focusing on the light while waiting for the other shoe to drop. See Catherine‘s blog for a similarly themed post.

While Katy celebrates her 42nd birthday, Audrey is celebrating a special anniversary with her man.

A brief but very welcome back to the blogosphere to Philippa.

Finally this week, both Nancy and Connie share precious memories of their grandparents. In Nancy’s words, ” Family. Memories. Connections. Bonds that last forever. Love. Things that matter most.”

And though unspoken by Nancy, I hope she won’t mind if I add to that list, one more item.. stories.

Until next week,

Let’s continue to honor each other’s stories

Yours with love
