Weekly Round Up
Time for this week’s round-up of the best of the blog posts which I’ve read over the past week. These are the posts that have moved me, taught me something, inspired me, and which I’ve wanted to share with you. Don’t forget if you have written a post which you would like readers to see, just leave a comment below.
Two months ago Nancy invited readers to join her in a 10,000 steps a day challenge. This week she checks in to see how everyone has been doing with the challenge.
Caroline writes about how the focus of cancer has changed in her life over a quarter of a century.
A warm welcome back to the blogosphere to Jackie Scully.
Vickie shares a tribute to Sherri Fillipo.
A deeply mindful reflection from Elizabeth this week.
Beth writes about a dilemma – when is the right time to tell your child about your cancer diagnosis?
Detrice looks back on a year of writing her blog.
Terri shares a guest post on breast reconstruction by surgeon, Wojciech Dec, MD.
Rebecca marks her birthday.
The many uses and benefits of coconut oil are extolled by Kaz.
Check out Justine‘s #MoreThan1in8 infertility campaign.
Rosemary marks her first cancerversary.
A Fresh Chapter shines a spotlight on Karen Walsh, who uses photo shoots to change the narrative.
Lisa offers advice on how to donate wisely and well to charitable organizations. On the same theme, read Lori‘s post The Walks.
A kind offer from Ann is rejected in a cruel way from a newly diagnosed neighbor. As Ann writes:
Many women with metastatic disease report being ignored from those who are newly diagnosed. Those of us who are Stage IV are not looked at as inspiring in this culture of survival. The fact that we can go for years, sometimes decades, having treatments but still raising kids, getting out every day, smiling and laughing and sometimes even working is not cause for celebration. All many can see is the end of our story, not the fact that we are still living.
Katy and Yvonne writes their own tributes to Prince and how his music provided a soundtrack to their lives.
Finally this week, sad news as Jody Schoger, co-founder of BCSM, moves to hospice care. Sending Jody and her family much love and strength for the coming days.
Until next week,
Yours with love
Marie xxx
Dear Marie – when (almost three years ago) a blogger friend was diagnosed with cancer I searched the net for support. This is when I started following you. Reading your round-ups became a ritual. You were with me all the time. I can’t ever thank you enough for that.
