Weekly Round Up
Time for this week’s round-up of the best of the blog posts which I’ve read over the past week. These are the posts that have moved me, taught me something, inspired me, and which I’ve wanted to share with you. Don’t forget if you have written a post which you would like readers to see, just leave a comment below.
We are just over one week into a new year, and the blogosphere still reflects this feeling of something new. Stacey puts it beautifully when she writes:
I’m not sure why a turn of a calendar page brings old memories or new ideas or even the motivation for change. I suppose any old day would do, but there’s something about a brand new year stretching out before me. Fresh, uncluttered of cancer and its fallout. Just waiting there, wide open with room for amazing possibilities. Unpleasant things have yet to mar the clean, crisp pages of the days ahead and I so hope it stays that way. Then I can wonder…
The New Year celebrations, known as Hogmanay, are a big thing in Scotland as Audrey shares with us in her latest post.
Nic is looking forward to an epic year of transformation in 2016 and Becky has already started the new year with her own epic adventure.
Brandie shares her list of 2016 goals.
Last year was a hard one for Philippa, and she is slowly feeling her way slowly through the start of a new year.
A heartbreakingly poignant read from Anna this week.
The start of a new year is also a time of looking back as Lisa does on what we’ve learned about cancer in 2015. Debra is also looking back painfully at the recognition of those we lost over the past year.
A look -back on a year of blogging is the order of the day at Tric‘s blog as she rounds up her best 2015 posts.
For those dealing with the pain of pregnancy loss and infertility, I highly recommend following Ever Upward and My Perfect Breakdown blogs. I’ve found both to be a great source of information and support over the past year.
Being quite a bit averse to exercise myself, I loved reading Beth‘s resolution to set the bar lower when it comes to her exercise goals. I also heartily approve of Nancy‘s decision to forego New Year’s Resolutions. And I simply loved Elizabeth‘s advice on not being held back by perfectionism.
Britt‘s honest appraisal of super-healthy eating was a refreshing read.
Helen shares the latest research on Radiation Induced Lumbar Plexopathy (RILP).
How do you know what your physical limits are after treatment? Wendy shares some thoughts on this in her latest post.
Rosemary writes about the “joys” of hormone therapy.
Terri offers practical advice for those facing chemo-induced hair loss.
Rebecca has discovered a surprisingly unexpected side-effect of cancer.
Carrie is experiencing a case of the “what-ifs”.
Karen reflects back on her five-year journey with breast cancer and Claudia writes an open letter about breast cancer, as she approaches six years post diagnosis.
Some really good practical advice from Elissa on packing a “go-bag” for hospital.
I winced reading Nancy Hicks‘ account of her recovery from knee replacement surgery. Sending healing thoughts your way Nancy x
Margaret has struggled with her decision to go for PROLIA – an injection used to treat osteoporosis in postmenopausal women who have high risk of bone fracture – but finally has made a decision.
The Cancer Curmudgeon weighs in on a debate that has been ongoing for the past few weeks – the right to bear mastectomy scars on social media.
Some good news for Caroline as her house move is finally underway.
Finally this week, a warm welcome back to the Seasoned Sistah to the blogosphere.
Until next week,
Yours with love
Marie xxx

Thanks, Marie. It was quite a week, full of losses and headlines that affect all of us, not least of which was the ‘Cancer Moonshot’ that I mentioned in my post, that our U.S. VP is heading up. Lots of reading to do…
