Weekly Round Up

girl_with_lassoTime for this week’s round-up of the best of the blog posts which I’ve read over the past week. These are the posts that have moved me, taught me something, inspired me, and which I’ve wanted to share with you. Don’t forget if you have written a post which you would like readers to see, just leave a comment below.

I am starting this week’s round-up with an interesting discussion on Healthline “If you’re living with cancer, do you consider yourself a “warrior”?” Some familiar faces sharing their thoughts. I was reminded of the discussion when I later read Lulu‘s latest post:

When women like Sheryl Sandberg (in her book Lean In) write things like her grandmother beat cancer, they reinforce stereotypes that beating cancer is a matter of personal choice. They ignore the desperate need for research to cure breast cancer for those who are initially diagnosed with terminal breast cancer and the 30% who will see the cancer return and become terminal no matter what they do.

Thought-provoking posts by Tami on waiting for the other shoe to drop; Beth on how cancer stole her identity; Rebecca on denial;  Caroline on the changes cancer has brought to her life; and Nancy on letting go, and hanging on after cancer.

A controversial topic under the spotlight at the Cancer Curmudgeon – the role of mammograms.

Eileen shares a Primo Levi quote that stopped me in my tracks when I read it. Something to ponder:

Sooner or later in life everyone discovers that perfect happiness is unrealizable, but there are few who pause to consider the antithesis: that perfect unhappiness is equally unattainable.

Good update on the latest cancer research courtesy of Lisa.

A warm welcome to the weekly round-up to Kate and welcoming Kathi back to the blogosphere this week; also Flo, though sad to read about her broken heart; and Nancy Hicks and her rain-sodden blog – hope the rain dries up soon Nancy.

My thoughts are with Alice who recently lost her mother. I know what a difficult time this is for you Alice.

Loved reading about Katy‘s special little boy, Augie, on his sixth birthday.

Becky poses the question Hypochondriac or engaged patient? Can you tell the difference? on her blog this week/

Black humor from Laurel as she lists the top 9 reasons being bald isn’t all bad!

JoAnn shares her experience of ROW–Recovery on Water.

Best blog title of the week award (if there was an award!) goes to Knot for Spoiler Alert: I’m still alive.

Another great recipe from the Pink Kitchen – Vegan Peach Upside-Down Cake.

Congratulations to Catherine and Zsolt on their sixth wedding anniversary.

Thoughts on her third cancerversary shared by Elizabeth this week,  Stacey is reflecting on her birthday and cancerversary combined and Susan’s birthday is a bitter-sweet occasion.

Carrie shares thoughts on mothering with breast cancer.

Jennifer offers advice on supporting a friend emotionally through cancer.

Finally this week, I leave you with a great “kindly” reminder from Audrey:
