Weekly Round Up: Life Is Precious Edition

Time for this week’s round-up of the best of the blog posts which I’ve read over the past week. These are the posts that have moved me, taught me something, inspired me, and which I’ve wanted to share with you. Don’t forget if you have written a post which you would like readers to see, just leave a comment below.

I’ve been reminded of the preciousness and the fragility of life this week, prompted by the shock death of JoJo (aka the Malignant Ginger), a young woman with breast cancer, who had just turned 32. Sarah, Rebecca, MirandaLe Amazzoni Furiose, A Little Earthquake and Rosie have all written tributes to her on their respective blogs.

Other reminders of life’s preciousness  struck me as as I read Jen‘s blog, Laurel‘s life-affirming  words, Tracy‘s quoting of a Coleridge poem, Corrie‘s tribute to her friend Lauren, and Eileen‘s marking of her five-year cancerversary and

Because life is so precious and fragile, we really ought to remember to be kinder to each other; so I was touched by Elizabeth‘s story of kindness shown by her barista, the aptly named Angel.

Elsewhere in the blogosphere…

Nancy writes a loving tribute to her precious pets and Caroline writes about the life of her beloved cat.

Some good advice on the Beauty Despite Cancer blog for employers and co-workers on how to handle a cancer patient’s return to work.

BCSM shine a spotlight on one of the nicest people I’ve met, not just on social media, but in real life too, Dr Ann Becker Schutte.

Congratulations to Lisey on winning the Indie Chicks Blog of the Year title – if you haven’t dipped in to her blog yet, I’d highly recommend you do.

Carrie shares information on axillary web syndrome on her blog.

More audio storytelling from Catherine.

Dr Elaine Schattner has some good advice on dealing with bogus cancer charities and how to give wisely.

A reminder by Anne Marie of the importance of clinical trials.

Here’s a great way to get to know each other – Tric has posted an A-Z of things to know about her. I think I might get this started here on JBBC whenever I find some time – or perhaps you might like to start it on your own blog.

Dealing with chemo-induced hair loss is a frequent theme in the blogosphere, but the Cancer Curmudgeon has a slightly different take on the theme this week.

Finally this week, I leave you with a thought on life from Carolyn

Life is at once beautiful, intense, joyful, tragic, gutting. Life is poignant, pathetic, depressing, inspiring, revered. Life is heart-rending and heartfelt… infinite vessels of our humanity contain each desire to embrace, to reach further, to hold on, to soar.

Until next week,

Keep on living life to the fullest,

Yours with love

Marie xxx
