Weekly Round Up
Time for this week’s round-up of the best of the blog posts which I’ve read over the past week. These are the posts that have moved me, taught me something, inspired me, and which I’ve wanted to share with you. Don’t forget if you have written a post which you would like readers to see, just leave a comment below.
When eight-year-old Jordan Thibodeau heard her mother, Sarah, talk about the need for there to be more information available for children whose parents are living with cancer, she decided to write her own story. She wanted her first-hand account of how she felt when her mother got sick to be shared with other children whose parents are also living with this disease so they know that they are not alone and that parents understand how their illness is seen through the eyes of a child. You can read Jordan’s story here.
Good news chez Yvonne Newbold as she becomes a grandma and publishes her book, The Special Parent’s Handbook. And Phlilippa too has become a published author. I love hearing news like this 🙂
Please join me in welcoming another Yvonne to the blogosphere – the author of SeasonedSistah2.
How do you handle the fear of recurrence? Living Beyond Breast Cancer has some advice. And Gai Comans offers some tools for overcoming fear. If you haven’t already done so, download your free copy of her eGuide Part One and Part Two .
I love that Beth ran with my latest Mojo Monday writing prompt about what you would teach if you had to teach something.
The blog baton has been passed to Victoria, Jan, Renn, Yvonne, Ronnie, and Audrey. It’s been fun to take part in this and to read the responses by others – I’ve learned something new from each of you.
Elizabeth is off to New Orleans to see her daughter perform, but things aren’t quite going according to plan.
Thoughts on body image post cancer on the I Have Breast Cancer blog, while Jen discusses choosing a swim suit which will cover the ever-present port in her chest.
Chris writes of life on the cancer roller coaster this week.
Nancy has a thoughtful reflection on the scars we carry on our bodies, visible and invisible, the latter, Justine refers to as “soul scars”. As a companion piece read A Conversation In Silence on Tric’s blog.
Try as I might, I just couldn’t summarize Michele’s latest post here – all I can say to you is this – go read it. I know many of you will identify with what she has written.
Cancer Curmudgeon has been quiet in the blogosphere and her latest blog post lets us know why.
Jackie Fox has been experimenting with a new blogging platform. I think it looks great – see what you think.
Advice from Tami on dealing with neuropathy.
I know it’s a tired old cliche to say that a picture speaks a thousand words, but that’s the thing with cliches, they happen to be true. So here’s a picture by Diane that really does speak volumes.
It’s not an easy read, but it is an essential read by Ismena, who faces up to the harsh reality of secondary cancer.
Helen continues to share great information on dealing with lymphoedema.
Jackie continues to share the lessons she is learning on her journey with cancer.
The bellicose language of cancer is up for discussion by Dr Kate Granger on The Guardian and on Katy’s blog.
Finally, this week, Lisa at the Pink Kitchen blog is giving away a copy of Catherine’s book, The Adventures of Claire Never-Ending.
And that concludes another week in the blogosphere. If I haven’t included your blog, please do leave a link below.
Until next week.
Yours with love
Marie xxx

Hi Marie, thanks for the round-up, really inspiring as ever. Would be great if you could include my blog at some point. My history with cancer runs through at least 5 generations of my family but we are not BRCA+. I’ve been through treatment and hopefully out the other side now. A rough ride and I was made redundant in the middle of treatment which, as the only source of income for my family, was very difficult. Fortunately life and events have moved on. You can find out more here. http://Www.fecthis.wordpress.com
