Probably the theme of my blog
Just had to share this perfect message from the Cancer Curmudgeon. I have written many times about the pain it causes me to witness judgemental comments in the blogosphere. We all have our own path to walk. Thanks for the reminder CC.
Wonderful! And so true.
And the response one might give to the judgmental is:
“Stay in your own lane!” 🙂

Hi Marie from Brussels! Like it but the word “journey” doesn’t ring a bell to the ears of most European patients. Would easily replace it by “my illness” something that everybody agrees with. Besides I was told at a recent conf. when I used this often used term in the USA, that cancer has nothing to do with a journey, a travel…

There goes my blog title Kathi! I have written on the blog many times about how the words we choose to use can elicit a very strong response – positive or negative in readers. It is a tricky balancing act. Thanks for your comment. Hope you are enjoying the summer. Marie

Somehow “Getting Beyond Breast Cancer” doesn’t have quite the same ring.

Thanks for the reblog. I chuckle at the comment here about the word “journey”; can’t say it is the word I’d choose to describe my cancer experience either, but the overall message of the graphic is all that matters, and considering my less than rah-rah musings, it seemed necessary to post it.
I’m interested in a post about what others/anyone here considers to be judgmental comments in cancer conversations. It is an idea I’ve had much cause to ponder lately.

So true, Marie. In fact, it’s true for any “journey” in Life – whether it be health issues, career choices, relationships… whatever.

I also loved this when I read it on the Cancer Curmudgeon’s blog. As for the word “journey,” I personally love that word. Everything we do and experience is part of our journey on this planet, so I don’t actually understand the reaction to the word, but, maybe it’s just me … and my journey. 🙂

I love to read what you post marie – and this is eliciting such interesting comments. I notice the words in your intro – we all have our own path to walk. so true, and most likely we’ll be walking many paths at the same time; some will be parallel, some will intersect, some will criss-cross over, above, and underneath – it’s a wonder we can keep going some times! we start, stop, hesitate, blink in confusion at conflicting directions, and skip over parts that we will need to revisit later. I love the word journey – I just wish it included a built-in GPS! for my journey, er, um, journeys …and thanks to the cancercurmudgeon – CC, I loved this when you posted it.
much love, XOXOXOXO
Karen, TC

Thanks so much for all your comments and thanks once again to Cancer Curmudgeon for originally posting this quote. CC here is a link to a post I wrote on the topic of judging each other’s experience of cancer.
