Death Of Susan Jeffers
I only heard today that Susan Jeffers, best-selling author has died. Here is the official statement of her death.
We are very sad to inform you that Susan died in the early hours of Saturday, October, 27th. She had been ill with a rare form of cancer called cancer of unknown primary (CUP) for over three years. She died peacefully and without pain, with her immediate family by her bedside.
After many rejections from publishers and agents, her most popular work Feel the Fear and Do it Anyway was published in 1987, and became one of the biggest selling self-help books of all time.
She wrote about her breast cancer diagnosis and mastectomy, but hadn’t made her metastatic cancer common knowledge. Her husband, Mark Shelmerdine described metastatic cancer, as devastating for families and care-givers due to the uncertainty it caused through a long period of illness.
If Susan’s work had an influence on your life, you might like to contribute to her memorial page.
Oh I feel so sad…Susan gave us all such a gift in her writing.

Susan’s book had and continues to have a tremendous effect on my life. I have given this book as a gift for many years now. I wrote a guest post a few months ago about I am who I am because of the books I have read. Susan’s was top among them. My thoughts and prayers are with her family. The best way we can honor Susan is follow her sage advice.

Oh, I didn’t know of Susan. Have you written about her or her book before Marie? Well, it’s sad every time you hear about life lost to this nasty disease. When it’s ANYONE, but especially a young person. I will pick up the book after I’ve had a short break from reading about cancer (If that ever happens!). Thanks for sharing this and for pointing out Susan’s work.

I am so saddened that the world has lost such a wonderful teacher and healer. Her book “Feel the Fear and Do It Anyway” was my bible in the 1980s. It helped to inspire me to be the person I am today. I met her when she came over to Dublin in The National Concert Hall back in 2005 and she was such a precious and engaging woman. Her enthusiasm and sincerity shined through in everything she did. It was an honor to have met her in person. She will continue to inspire me
from where she is now as she journeys and evolves in the next life. ❤
