We are all walking home Jan – but the journey home is so much easier when it is taken in the company of those who loves us, who look out for us, and who try to help us through the stumbling blocks on the sometimes rocky road. I am walking right alongside you in spirit, my dear friend x
thanks Mona for your comment – I hadn’t thought about the memory of those we won’t forget so I am glad you mentioned it here – it adds a whole new dimension to this quote
When think of being walked home, I think of friends, family and high school crushes. This is a lovely image & message, thank you for sharing. ~Catherine
Marie, just gorgeous. My cousin just entered hospice and I don’t feel like I am in that “inner circle” that should be taking up her energy with a visit. She has children and sisters and close friends that I want to defer to, BUT I too am walking her home. . . even if in my mind and heart. This made me feel connected to her with all of the years of history and memories between us. Thank you!
Lindsay, so good to have you here. I am sorry to hear about your cousin. Having lost my Mom last year to brain cancer and being with her in hospice at this time of year, I think it is very sensitive and thoughtful of you to give the time and space to her family. I am sure she knows you are walking her home in spirit. Marie x
". . .and the world cannot be discovered by a journey of miles, no matter how long, but only by a spiritual journey, a journey of one inch, very arduous and humbling and JOYFUL, by which we arrive at the ground at our own feet, and learn to be at home."
Wendell Berry
