Celebrating the Ordinary: Day 4 – Lunch and Architecture
I have just arrived home from meeting a friend for lunch in Dublin today and already I can see I have a lot to catch up on with your blogs. But first, let me share some scenes from my day with you. Lunch in the elegant surroundings of the Powerscourt Centre, a speciality shopping centre set in an elegant Georgian house located just off Grafton Street.
Formally, 59 South William Street was home to Richard Wingfield 3rd Viscount Powerscourt (1730-1788) and his wife Lady Amelia, who bought the Townhouse to entertain guests during Parliament season. The Lord and Lady Powerscourt spared no expense in decorating the house and employed well know artists and craftsmen. In order to dazzle their guests the hallway and landing were decorated in a rococo style and the ceiling in the music room, and in the ballroom, are in a neo classical style.
We had lunch on the gallery level and delicious it was too..with the most divine home-made brown bread. I should have taken a picture of it, but I had scoffed it before I thought of it 😉
I did take a pic of my cappuccino served vintage crockery style. Good food, good coffee, stylish surroundings, a chat with a friend – all part of the ordinary worth celebrating today.
What a lovely and dignified environment in which to partake of lunch, Marie. I feel as if I were right there with you, sipping that cappuccino, savoring the brown bread, soaking in the decor, and enjoying fellowship with a good friend. What could be better? Let’s keep on celebrating the ordinary–in style. xox

Hmmm….looks like good coffee is something many of us have in common. Along with chatting with friends, enjoying beautiful pics from our blogger pals, and celebrating the ordinary! Can’t wait to someday have coffee and a chat (in person!!)

Despite visiting the UK twice (including a year in Cardiff, where my older son was born) I’ve never been to Ireland – a real source of regret which your gorgeous pictures reinforce. One day, I hope – sigh. Am with you on finding friends, food, great coffee and cute crockery some of life’s loveliest pleasures!!
