Health Activist Writer’s Month Challenge Day 22 #HAWMC
Day 22 of the WEGO Health Activist Writer’s Month which I have signed up for – a month dedicated to the art of writing about health. Today’s prompt is Things We Forget.
My sticky note was inspired by something I recently read on a Facebook update by Donijka of the Irish Online Counselling & Psychotherapy Service – a reminder to be here now – a lesson I needed to hear that day.. and every day!
If all the truth and wisdom of the universe is contained in every small thing, how much do we miss when we are absent from ourselves? Do we miss signs of disquiet or dis-ease in ourselves and others? How much of our journey do we miss because of our absence from ourselves? Take some time today do notice where you are, have you left yourself, are you fully present, or are you merely functioning on autopilot?
The second part of today’s writing challenge asks where I would post this. I think I need to post it everywhere in my home, my car, my office as a reminder to come back to myself every time my mind wanders.
Over to You
What reminder would you write to yourself?
Great advice, Marie. I love that quote by Donijka. We go off in our thoughts and lose the presence of the moment, which is where we need to bask. I’ve got a few reminders I’ve posted today on my blog. It was a fun exercise. Thanks for your tip. xx

Another good one Marie! If we could all remember to keep using that one we’d be a lot happier…

Mine would be similar: Be present. Be Mindful.

Such a terrific quote, Marie. I need to put that right in the middle of the mirror.

Another great reminder, Marie! I have an acrylic plaque in my office that reads: BE HERE NOW. It sits next to a photo of my husband and me on vacation. However, both the photo and the plaque were obscured by a monthly desk calendar, a box of tissues, my laptop, a zip drive and some spools of thread. (And I had just cleaned my office.) Thanks for prompting me to clear a pathway to a great saying!

Thanks Marie. It’s certainly an ongoing work in progress, but certainly, the more we practice, the more likely we are to recognise when we leave ourselves and consciously bring ourselves back using all of our senses.

Well done Marie for this valuable lesson. I’m thankful that I have 38 years of yoga practice which reminds me to be centred, grounded and in the moment. Even when I do wobble (being a Libran), I know I can always find that little flame of peaceful light in my heart. It is useful to realise that we may leave that stillness, but it is always there, waiting for us to rediscover. Love and compassion, Christina xxxxx
