Weekly Round Up
Time for this week’s round-up of the best of the blogs over the past week. These are the posts that have moved me, taught me something, inspired me, and which I’ve wanted to share with you. Just click on the highlighted links to read the posts. Don’t forget if you have written a post which you would like readers to see, just leave a comment below.
Let’s start off with two blogs new to the weekly round up – first one is Beth Gainer’s Calling the Shots who has been writing about coaching our inner child; and then there is the wonderfully named The Emerald Heart with a great post exploring the nature of self healing adapted from the work of Dr Bernie Siegel.
I love how through this weekly post, I get to share the many different voices of cancer survivorship. Thanks to Anna R for keeping the subject of metastatic survivorship to the fore and this week she pointed me in the direction of a new blog from Donna Peach and in particular, a post which addresses the very real difficulties of maintaining social interactions when dealing with metastatic illness.
Jackie has written a very thoughtful post in A Tale of Two Metastases highlighting how there truly is no right (or wrong) way to “do” cancer.
Lots of bloggers up in arms about the new Komen scent Promise Me which has just hit the market. ChemoBabe says it crosses the line, Tami calls it the pink elephant in the room, The Pink Underbelly says it is definitely NOT on her birthday wish list and Katie has been inspired to respond in verse!
Lauren is continuing her remembrance of all things cancer and this week is talking about her port procedure PTSD and Sarah has been writing about family in a beautiful, thought provoking post.
Brenda Coffee continues to inspire me with the grace and courage with which she is living her life without her beloved husband James and in her latest post she writes about the effect his death had on their dogs and the lessons she has learned from her canine companions.
Philippa made me smile this week as she declared a victory over her cancer paranoia and Nancy is asking some questions about your anger. What makes you angry about cancer? How do you channel that anger? Join in the discussion.
Finally don’t forget to join in our other lives fun exercise..we are learning lots we never knew..or imagined about our other lives. As Beth said in her comment”What a great exercise! I didn’t know anything about all these people I’ve come to know and respect!” And that’s just why I wanted to do this!
Have a great weekend everyone..and looking forward to more snapshots of our other lives in the days to come.

It really does have an amazing power! Brings hope and comfort. We created a virtual storytelling quilt where anyone who has been touched by cancer can add their own story in photos, text, video and audio. Some truly inspirational stories out there… http://facingcancertogether.witf.org/quilt
We’d love for you to add a patch to tell your story!
